Brooklyn Nine-Nine is quickly becoming a hit in its first season and just recently garnered a Golden Globe nomination. Before this nomination though, the show got a huge honor from Fox: following the 2014 Super Bowl broadcast. This prestigious scheduling promises record numbers in viewership so we know the network has faith in the young comedy. Now a new interview with creator Michael Schur reveals that this episode will have a special guest star!

According to a new interview with Schur, Adam Sandler will be joining the Brooklyn Nine-Nine crew for this special episode and the Hollywood superstar (recently named the most overpaid actor of 2013) will play himself. Undeclared fans are sure to scoff at this detail (references!), but it's still a great move for the show.

"It's very fun," Schur promised for the 2014 episodes. "There's a lot of Terry Crews and Andre Braugher together, which I love. The two of them have a big storyline together and they're really, really funny together.

"And then there's some Super Bowl specific stuff but we really just tried to create a really just big, bright, funny, juicy, comedy story. We're hoping a lot of people will check out the show for the first time," Schur explained. "Because the entire universe watches the Super Bowl. And so we really just wanted to sort of introduce the characters to a wider audience. We tried to just build a couple stories that are really explaining in the funniest way who everyone is."
