'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' is the most pirated movie of 2013

For as much as people enjoy spending money to go see The Hobbit franchise films, they equally love to torrent and illegally download the films. According to TorrentFreak.com, the trilogy's first movie The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was the most downloaded film of the year.

With 8.4 million estimated downloads on BitTorrent, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey easily nabs the year's top spot, beating out films such as Django Unchained, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Iron Man 3.

In fact, the top grossing movie of the year, Catching Fire, was nowhere to be found on the top 10 most-torrented movies list.

However, other big releases of 2013 and 2012 were highly pirated this year. Django Unchained claims the No. 2 spot on TorrentFreak's list with 8.1 million estimated downloads, followed by The Fast & The Furious 6 (7.9 million downloads), Iron Man 3 (7.6 million downloads) and Silver Linings Playbook (7.5 million downloads).
