Ed Sheeran's first single off of his new album x was co-written by Pharrell Williams, but another huge name sat in on the recording session of the song. "Smile" might not feature his guest vocals, but Pharrell tried to get his studio guest Leonard Nimoy to participate in the song. Spock was almost on Sheeran's new album!

"Ed was already really blown away to be working with Pharrell when in walked Mr. Spock," an insider explained. "Ed was taken aback to see one of the greatest stars from sci-fi just sit and watch them at work."

The source added: "Pharrell tried to get him to do some vocal work in the studio, but he refused. Everyone knows that Ed likes his movies, and he was just stunned to be there with Leonard."

Meanwhile another one of Ed's new songs, "Don't," is reportedly about his relationship with Ellie Goulding and her infidelity with Niall Horan!

"The last album was more young and dewy-eyed and innocent," Sheeran explained. "I've still got very nice songs on this record but some of them are bitey. The story in 'Don't' is 100% true. I could have gotten nastier - there was more s*** that I didn't put in."

He added: "I was seeing someone for a bit, and then they ended up physically involved with one of my friends in the same hotel that we were staying in, while I was downstairs. And I feel like: 'Treat people how you want to be treated'."
