Real Madrid welcomed Bayern Munich in what was supposed to be the battle of all battles. This UEFA Champions League semi-final was always going to be a showcase of two very different teams, yet two who are both perhaps as talented as one another. Can one of this famous duo go on and beat Chelsea or Atletico Madrid in the final?

Bayern passed the ball around countless of times in the first half, having as much as 80% of the ball for large durations of the half. Madrid looked to counter and cause problems through Cristiano Ronaldo, and they did just that, creating enough key chances to take complete control of this game and the entire tie itself. Ronaldo seemed below his usual best, perhaps still recovering from his recent injury. Superstar Gareth Bale made his return, and it looks like this dynamic duo will return to full fitness for next weeks encounter.

On one Real counter attack the ball was hit across goal, where Karim Benzema was there to calmly finish the chance, giving Real a somewhat undeserved lead. Madrid would of been slightly disappointed at not scoring a second in the first half. Although they didn't finish the game when they could they will travel to Germany with a 1-0 advantage, hoping it's enough to see them through to the final.

With Real winning 1-0, many are expecting an all-out-attack performance from Bayern next week, so can we expect a Champions League classic, or will Real Madrid go for a simple, frustrating approach to see them through?
