When Tottenham Hotspurs fired Tim Sherwood, many, many candidates were put a list of potential targets, but the London club took their time, and today signed Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino on a five-year deal. The Argentine spent 18 months with the Saints, changing the club from top to bottom, and making himself, the club and their players plenty more attractive than they'd been previously.

Pochettino explained his joy, saying "This is a club with tremendous history and prestige and I am honoured to have been given this opportunity to be its head coach," He continued "There is an abundance of top-class talent at the club and I am looking forward to starting work with the squad. Tottenham Hotspur has a huge following across the world and I have great admiration for the passion the fans show for this team."

It seems he's excited to get started, but is he the right man for the job? Their chairman Daniel Levy believes so, saying "He has a proven ability to develop each player as an individual, whilst building great team spirit and a winning mentality." Levy has been known for his impatience with managers, and he's also willing to back them financially in the transfer market. Will he give his new manager the funds to compete, or will he ask him to work with what he's got?

Will he be set the same target as those that went before him, meaning he will have to qualify for the UEFA Champions League? Also, will some of his Saints stars follow him to White Hart Lane?
