Just yesterday, the world lost perhaps one of the funniest men on the planet: Robin Williams. And while we are all mourning the death of such a great icon, it appears those within the comedy industry are finding themselves without one of their own today. Not only have they lost one of their dear friends, but also a mentor –– a comedy idol who helped them solidify their decision to enter the ever-so difficult world of stand up comedy back when they were younger.

Many remember Williams for his wonderful charm, talents on the screen and infectious personality, but it's important to remember his abilities on the stage as a stand up comic. Because of that, below are just some comedians who have been paying respects to Robin Williams.

CONAN O'BRIEN
On last night's episode of CONAN, O'Brien broke the news of Williams' death to his audience in a heartfelt, genuine way alongside Andy Richter and guest Will Arnett. Watch the video below:

PAUL F. TOMPKINS
Comedian Paul F. Tompkins took his thoughts and feelings to Fushion.net after hearing the news. In the piece, the Speakeasy host explains that the comic's Reality... What A Concept album was one of the first comedy records he ever had, and how it shaped his thoughts and feelings towards stand up comedy.

MARC MARON
Maron, who has been known to have some of the most deep, thought-provoking conversations on the mic with some very big names, reposted his episode of WTF with Marc Maron which had Williams as a guest. The post is below along with the link to the episode.

STEVE MARTIN
Comedian / Actor Steve Martin came up through the ranks in comedy with Williams. They shared the stage in a more formal way back in 1988 when the two did a revival of Waiting for Godot, as reports Express. Martin unveiled his thoughts on Twitter:

BILL COSBY  Veteran stand up Bill Cosby posted a photograph of he and Williams from the 1996 film Jack to Twitter along with the short, but understandable statement, "I'm stunned!"

JAY LENO
Former Tonight Show host and legendary stand up Jay Leno ran the comedy circuit around the same time as Williams. The two worked together and knew each other rather well. In a statement, Leno said, "I saw him on stage the very first time he auditioned at the improv in Los Angeles, and we have been friends ever since. It's a very sad day," as The Wrap reports.

PATTON OSWALT
Known to the world from his roles on King of Queens and Justified, but to comedy fans from his incredible stand up talents, comedian Patton Oswalt grew close to Williams over the years. He took to Twitter following the news.

SETH MEYERS

Late Night host Seth Meyers stopped by BuzzFeed Brews just last night after taping his NBC show and discussed the impact Wiliams made on him. He also announced had he known about the death during the taping, he would have acknowledged it.
