Ellen Pompeo has graced our TV screens as Seattle Grace's leading doctor Meredith Grey for 10 seasons in ABC's hit Grey's Anatomy. When the series does come to an end it might be the end to Ellen's acting career, too.

During a BuzzFeed-hosted panel on Wednesday, the 44- year-old actress revealed that after Grey's Anatomy ends, she might not want to act anymore. "I definitely don't have a strong desire to act after Grey's," she said.

"I definitely feel myself transitioning. I don't find acting terribly empowering. For the place I am in my life... I don't necessarily want to work for other people," she added.

The actress continued by saying that she no longer needs to prove herself within the acting field. "With acting, I don't feel I have anything to prove anymore. Grey's is in 97 countries or something, and we've had this blessing of all these wonderful fans who still love us 10 years later; I feel like we did it. And I don't have anything else to prove."

Ellen sat alongside Scandal star Kerry Washington and How to Get Away with Murder actress Viola Davis as she explained her next venture... producing.

"I'd like to try and challenge myself. I feel like I got the acting thing. I would like to try and see if I could do something different, and be successful at something different. I feel like I'm very successful at acting, at my definition of success," Ellen revealed during the interview.

"Producing is very challenging, but it's very interesting to me and fun to try and find projects. That's where I really have fun now. That's fun for me, to find a book or an article or an idea and turn it into something," the Grey's actress revealed when asked about her new production company, Calamity Jane.

Luckily, we don't have to part with Ellen's character Meredith and the rest of the doctors of Grey's Anatomy anytime soon because the actress signed a two-year deal in January to continue on the show for seasons 11 and 12.

"Although ABC hasn't formally renewed Grey's beyond its current 10th season, the newly-brokered [Ellen] Pompeo/[Patrick] Dempsey pacts all but confirm that ABC intends to keep the show (and Meredith and Derek) around for years to come," TVLine reported.
