Photos: Trista Sutter Surprises Husband Ryan Sutter With Camping Trip For 40th Birthday

Bachelorette royalty Trista Sutter celebrated her husband Ryan Sutter's 40^th birthday by surprising him with a secret family trip to Leadville, Colorado.

"His birthday was September 14^th ad I surprised him with a camping trip up to Leadville, Colorado, and a place called Twin Lakes," Trista divulged to Us Weekly.

The former Bachelor contestant got two other gifts from his doting wife and mother of his two children: paddleboards and a corn hole game that was made by one of his firefighter friends.

The Leadville area of Colorado is a well-kept secret. However, Men's Journal didn't keep it quite so secret as they once named it one of the nation's top 20 "Dream Towns in America."

"We stayed in a brand new Airstream," said Trista. "[It was] Ryan's dream come true." For those of us who are camping illiterate, airstream in layman's terms id defined as: a luxury recreational vehicle.

Leadville is a frontier-mining town equipped with Victorian architecture and a rich sense of history.

The couple's children, son Maxwell, 7, and daughter Blakesley, 5 had plenty of space to play in the outdoors.

"40 yrs. ago today, the world welcomed the man who continues to show me the true meaning of love," Trista commented on her instagram "On your 40th birthday, I wish for you the kind of love & friendship & support that you have so lovingly shown me & our 2 beautiful babies for your next 40 years & beyond!!!"

After Trista's appearance on the Bachelor ending up as runner-up, she was ABC's first Bachelorette in the spin-off show to The Bachelor. She chose Ryan Sutter as her winner, and the couple married in December 2003.

Considered the most successful Bachelorette contestants in the series history her success may be considered luck to some, but to her she knew he might be the one when she first saw him.

I had worked very hard to keep my feelings to myself," Trista told CBN.com "The good news is that he showed up when it mattered most - when I could finally tell him that I had fallen for him."
