'New Girl' Recap: “Dice” Reveals Jess Needs Some Serious Help In The Dating Field

Season four of New Girl is now underway and the gang is getting into a lot of mischief. In "Dice" Schmidt and Jessica spend the day together while the rest of the group breaks the law... and hangs out with cops.

This week's episode begins with Schmidt helping another woman out of his apartment after sleeping with her the night before. As someone who is striking out when it comes to dating, Jess asks him where he is finding all of these single women. The answer: the Dice app, which is like Tinder but quicker.

Even though Schmidt shows her the app he makes her promise not to use it. Obviously Jess doesn't listen and goes on a terrible date that lands her in dark room, sitting on a swan raft and talking to a man with a braided beard. Her horrible date might be linked to the fact that her bio read: "DTF" meaning darn tooting fun. Poor Jess, she just doesn't understand the dating world.

Back at the apartment, Winston reveals that he isn't connecting with the guys at the police academy. When he leaves the room, the gang realizes that they will soon be living with a cop and should do something against the law before he can arrest them. Because Coach has never smoked pot, Cece and Nick agree to smoke with him. This hilarious moment leads to Schmidt saying,  "If pot were a piano, Nick would be a nine-year-old Chinese girl" because he is the best at getting stoned.

Unfortunately Winston doesn't know about their plan is and gets them all invited to a cop party with him. Despite being stoned, Nick and Cece agree to go to the party and help Winston make friends. Coach tags along, but doesn't begin to feel high until he actually gets to the party full of police officers, which can only lead to trouble.

Meanwhile, Schmidt has agreed to help Jess learn the art of Dice. The two sit in the bar, while Schmidt teaches Jess everything not to do using a Taboo buzzer. In an attempt to help Jess become a dating guru in one day, Schmidt sets her up on 10 dates in one day.

Jess endures one terrible date after another and then finally starts to listen to Schmidt after they have a heart-to-heart moment. Schmidt is adorable and tells Jess that she is the prize, so if she doesn't like someone she needs to just leave. After some hilariously bad dates, Schmidt sets Jess up with the one guy she actually liked on the app.

Sadly, Jess gets caught up in Schmidt's lifestyle and assumes the guy is a pervert and shuts him down. She later realizes that she wants a boyfriend, unlike Schmidt who wants to eternally date people. She tracks down the guy she thought she liked and quickly realizes that Schmidt was actually right. He is a comedian magician... and she is stuck eating with him on a date that she can't get out of. She seriously can't catch a break in the dating game.

Back at the cop party, Nick, Cece and Coach all make a huge scene and then run inside they house to hide. As they are tripping out in the closet, a big group of cops storms into the room and freaks them out. The positive outcome of this incident is that it makes the group finally accept Winston and the cops give him a nickname.

Winston is now "Toilet" because he has to put up with a lot of crap with friends like Nick, Cece and Coach. Tune in next week to see if Jess finally gets the hang of dating again.
