Gilmore Girls ran for seven seasons (starting in 2000) and each and every one of them gave us more and more to love about the mother-daughter duo made up of Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel). Their witty banter, constant pop culture references and slew of hot boyfriends constantly kept fans everywhere tuning in to see what they would do next.

Besides Lorelai and Rory's relationship, the only other constant throughout the seven seasons (which ended in 2007) was Rory's obsession with books. Her love affair with the written word outlasted her relationships with Dean, Jess and Logan. She read everywhere she went and read everything she could get her hands on and that is why we loved her.

In honor of Rory's love of books, Patrick Lenton, a fan of the series, created an extraordinary challenge called the Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge in 2013. The challenge consists of a reading list made up of 339 titles that Rory referenced or read on the show.

According to Buzzfeed, the Australian writer estimates it will take him around two years to read all the books on the list. "Lenton's currently on book number 18 — Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress — and estimates if he reads one book every two weeks, it'll take him two more years to complete the challenge," the publication reported in March.

Now, the creator of one of the greatest book challenges around is revealing his favorite reads based on Rory Gilmore's reading tastes.

"While I was watching Gilmore Girls, I saw Rory voraciously reading this huge variety of books, from the classics to literature to genre. I realized that it had been ages since I'd challenged myself in my reading — I was fairly set in my favorite authors, in my genre styles. I realized that unless I really kicked myself into action, I might never read some of the 'greats,'" Patrick told Entertainment Weekly.

So what are his top reads from the Rory Gilmore approved list? The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank and Atonement by Ian McEwan start off his favorites. Bel Canto by Ann Patchett, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, Beloved by Toni Morrison and The Bielski Brothers: The True Story of Three Men Who Defined the Nazis, Built a Village in the Forest, and Saved 1,200 Jews by Peter Duffy round out his top picks.

"There are some books on there that I really dislike, and find weird to be included anywhere. But, in the end there's nothing I really can't imagine Rory reading — she's indiscriminate in her enthusiasm, and I think that's why I wanted to be just like her," he told the publication.

You too can watch the entire series (which Patrick did before creating his reading list), which starts streaming on Netflix in October, and see for yourself the books Rory reads and mentions. Plus, who doesn't like binge watching the lovely ladies of Stars Hollow?

"I live in two worlds. One is a world of books," Rory famously said. So get your reading lamp ready and start watching the series or reading Patrick's Rory-inspired book list now.
