The Goldbergs is back for its sophomore season and this year there are even more stories surrounding the craziness that comes with Beverly Goldberg (played by Wendi McLendon-Covey). Adam Goldberg's drama teacher specifically inspired one storyline.

This week's episode "Mama Drama" was not only inspired by a real life incident between Beverly and Adam's drama teacher Miss Cinoman when Adam tried out for a school play, but it was a story creator Adam Goldberg didn't know about until last year.

After The Goldbergs first season aired, Adam's real life teacher Susan Cinoman reached out to him and told him a story that lead to this week's episode. "She was like, 'I gotta tell you this story that happened with your mom.' She told me how she had a face-off with Beverly Goldberg when I didn't get cast in the role I wanted in the play," Adam told TV Guide.

"Theater was my thing because I didn't fit in, but I wasn't good at acting, so it was hard! So my mom was always storming down there demanding that I get better roles. So I was like, 'That's totally an episode!' So my middle school drama teacher has a credit on the episode," he added.

The drama didn't stop there. When filming this week's episode both Adam's real mother and his drama teacher visited the set and were reunited after their showdown many years prior. The two got along great according to Adam and it made the set even better for the day.

"It's pretty amazing. And Ana is so great and perfect as her. What she pitched became an episode, all the way to the title, 'Mama Drama.' It was fun, once-in-a-lifetime experience," Adam revealed.

In the episode, Saturday Night Live's Ana Gasteyer will play Miss Cinoman and she will come face to face with Beverly when Adam isn't cast as the lead role of Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar. Ana's hilarious comedic timing is a welcomes addition to the series and we can't wait to see her play this role.
