The CW network ordered full seasons for both The Flash and Jane the Virgin. The network announced the news on Tuesday, after only a couple of episodes of each new show had actually aired.

According to TV Guide, The Flash's debut episode was the most-watched episode for a series premiere for the network since the series debut of The Vampire Diaries in 2009.

"We have had a fantastic start to our season this year, with The Flash launching as our most-watched series premiere ever, and Jane the Virgin recognized as the best new show this season by critics across the country," CW President Mark Pedowitz said in a statement.

"Over the past three seasons, we have made it our mission to grow and to broaden out our audience, and to keep raising the bar with the quality and impact of our new shows, and The Flash and Jane have both exceeded our expectations on all counts. I'm thrilled to announce full season orders for both of these terrific new series."

The Flash is about Barry Allen (played by Grant Gustin), who wakes up after being struck by lightning with newfound lighting speed. His new speed and passion to help others helps him become a new superhero... the Flash. The series also stars Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow and Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells.

Jane the Virgin on the other hand, is about Jane Villanueva (played by Gina Rodriguez), a young girl who is accidentally artificially inseminated. Despite being a virgin she is now pregnant and must figure out what to do. The series also stars Ivonne Coll as Alba Villanueva and Andrea Navedo as Xiomara Villanueva.

TV Line revealed that The Flash's debut amassed, "6.1 million viewers in Live+3 ratings – and was the network's highest-rated series premiere among Adults 18-49 in more than five years."

"Jane's debut meanwhile doubled The CW's year-ago performance in the Mondays-at-9 time slot, and held steady in Week 2," the publication reported.
