Lorde Releases New Kanye Remix From 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One' Soundtrack [LISTEN]

Lorde has unveiled a brand new Kanye West production of one of her songs to the world, lifted from the upcoming soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One curated by the Kiwi star. 

The song is "Flicker" and is a reworked Kanye West version of "Yellow Flicker Beat", the video to which Lorde released to celebrate her 18th birthday last week. It's remarkably different to the original, and certainly feels more suitable for soundtracking the inevitable trouble Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) will find herself in during The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One. 

As Complex report, "Though 'Ye doesn't have a verse or any vocal additions on the rework, he does flip the instrumental, slowing it down and adding a noticeable level of significance to the production that was absent on the original."

Pitchfork, meanwhile, noted that as the hip-hop supremo slowed the track down to a sludgy, intimidating slow-burn, "the production on this one is definitely reminiscent of Yeezus." 

The Kiwi singer has curated the entire soundtrack for the upcoming movie starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, enlisting pals Chvrches, Bat For Lashes, Charli XCX, The Chemical Brothers and Major Lazer (featuring Ariana Grande) to contribute tracks.   

NME quoted the singer saying "Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance. The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people."

The soundtrack will be out Nov. 17, ahead of the film's release on Nov. 21. The track listing  for the official soundtrack can be found below.
