It's being reported that actress Carol Ann Susi, who was the famed voice of Howard Wolowitz's mother on CBS' incredibly successful comedy, The Big Bang Theory, has passed away at the age of 62 from cancer.

Susi's death came just yesterday, Tuesday, Nov. 11, according to TMZ. It was described as an "aggressive" form of cancer, which ended in a "brief battle."

While never seen on the show, the actress' voice made her a fan-favorite for all Big Bang viewers. As the aforementioned gossip site notes, her voice was heard in pretty much every single episode of the series; however, she was never seen on camera – with the exception of a quick glimpse on the episode showing Howard's wedding.

Creator Chuck Lorre – who also holds Two and A Half Men and Mom on his resume – released a statement reading, "The Mrs. Wolowitz character became a bit of a mystery throughout the show's eight seasons. What was not a mystery, however, was Carol Ann's immense talent and comedic timing."

How the producers of Big Bang will handle the unfortunate death of Howard's mother on the show remains to be seen.

Aside from her Big Bang Theory credits, the actress has appeared on the likes of Seinfeld, King of Queens, That '70s Show and Adam Sandler's 2011 film Just Go With It, among others.

The Big Bang Theory is currently in its 8th season. The show airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
