The star-studded, tear-jerking anti-Ebola Band Aid 30 version of "Do They Know It's Christmas" has just been released, and it stars a litany of huge pop names including U2's Bono, One Direction, Coldplay's Chris Martin and friend of the British royal family, Ellie Goulding.

Along with its release today through iTunes, the video for the single has been unveiled via YouTube and shows the long list of names involved filing into the same South London studio that the 1984 original was recorded in, Sarm Studios

As the video explains, the "track was recorded and the video made all within 36 hours", with everyone involved donating their time and service to the single.

The Band Aid 30 version of "Do They Know It's Christmas" features Bono (pre-bike crash), Coldplay's Chris Martin, One Direction, Sam Smith, this generation's Phil Collins Ed Sheeran, Disclosure, Jessie Ware, a grizzled Robert PlantQueen drummer Roger Taylor, an emotional Seal, Ellie Goulding, Anélique Kidjo, Underworld, a beanie-clad Sinead O'Connor, Emile Sandé, pop also-rans Bastille, a suitably gruff looking Elbow, a belting it-out Rita Ora, Clean Bandit, screamer Olly Murs, Jimmy Napes, Paloma Faith, and Fuse ODG.

Geldof was also on hand to direct hugs and handclapping, while the track was produced by Paul Epworth (Adele) and co-writer Midge Ure.

It's been 30 years since the original "Do They Know It's Christmas" premiered in 1984, written by Bob Geldof and Pere Ubu's Ure and starring big names such as U2's Bono, Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Sting, Phil Collins, George Michael, Boy George and Bananarama. In 1984 the charity single was used to raise money to combat famine in Ethiopia, and versions in 1989 and 2004 also raising money for charity.

According to The Guardian, the UK government have agreed to waive the VAT (tax) on the charity song, and that after the song premiered on the UK's X Factor, Geldof said in a radio interview that it raised a million quid in four minutes.

The Guardian also report that superstar Adele's representatives defended her no show, telling The Sun that "Bob and the organisers spoke directly with [Adele's] management but at no point was she confirmed." She will instead, they confirm, donate to the cause.

Band Aid 30's "Do They Know It's Christmas" is out now through iTunes - and available physically on Dec. 8 - with all proceeds going to Ebola relief. You can also donate via bandaid30.com.
