Keira Knightley took to The Late Show with Seth Meyers last night to explain that while she's 'terrified' of Benedict Cumberbatch's 'Cumberbitches'... the fans of her fellow Brit actor are all lovely too!

As Meyers points out, Cumberbatch and Knightley have known each other for a long time, with the pair working together on Atonement in 2007, so the actress has seen the rise of Cumberbatch and his growing fame first hand. That also means she's quite experienced with the group that, as Vulture point out, are rabidly obsessed with the actor, and who are formerly known as the 'Cumberbitches'. You can watch her chat with Meyers below.

"It's terrifying," Knightley told Meyers. She quickly backtracked though, adding, "I mean, they're lovely. I feel terrified saying they're terrifying because they might come after me."

"It's amazing," she goes on. "They're very artistic, they paint pictures of him. You got to premieres and there are these amazing paintings of Ben, looking... Ben... like."

But knowing Cumberbatch is also fraught with problems, the star explained. "I actually had a really embarrassing moment at the London premiere, because they scream more than I;'ve heard for anyone else... I had a publicist with me and she went y'know, 'Go and sign some autographs'. And I went over there and went 'oh yeah, of course, of course, no problem'... and they were all like, 'oh no, we don't want you, we're just here for Ben'."

She also bemoaned the mathematical acumen of her and the rest of The Imitation Game's cast, saying that while the producers brought in people to explain the maths they were dealing with to them "It was lucky none of us had to do a test to get the parts," Knightley laughed.

As reported by the Daily Mail, in The Imitation Game Knightley plays "Joan Clarke, the only female codebreaker to work alongside Alan Turing and his team at Bletchley Park".

They also report that the Pirates of the Caribbean star will make her debut on Broadway in 2015 as the lead in a new "adaptation of Emile Zola's classic novel Thérèse Raquin".

Knightley recently posed topless in a shoot for Interview Magazine as part of a stance against the way images of women's bodies are manipulated in the lead up to The Imitation Game's release. The Imitation Game hits cinemas Nov. 28.
