The ongoing contract saga between Steven Gerrard, Liverpool FC and Brendan Rodgers will be put to bed for one night, as the Reds visit Premier League new boys Leicester City in a game both teams must win for very different reasons. Liverpool legend John Barnes believes Gerrard must stay. He explained, "At this stage of his career, his best at this moment is still good enough." When asked if he's good enough, he replied, saying, "Of course he is, we know that. It happens with any player when you're getting into the latter stages of your career. If he was playing in a team like Chelsea or Manchester City that had strength in depth, then you could say leave him out because there are people of better or equal quality who can come in. But Liverpool don't have that."
It seems the Reds have taken note, as they've offered him a new contract, but reports suggest that he's unhappy, and wants to test himself in another country.
Gerrard will be out to prove a point, that he's still good enough, so expect him to dictate the play in this must-see clash.
