Reese Witherspoon might be considered America's Sweetheart by her fans after capturing our hearts in films like Legally Blonde and Sweet Home Alabama, but the 38-year-old actress isn't that sweet. The Wild star revealed that she isn't the sweetheart we think she is in a recent interview.

As Glamour's January cover girl, Reese is opening up about her wild side. "I certainly didn't self-identify as anyone's sweetheart. I'm friendly, but I don't think I'm sweet," Reese admitted to Glamour during her January 2015 cover shoot "I'm honest."

The Walk the Line actress explained that by taking on the role of Cheryl Strayed in Wild, which is definitely outside her usual charming lady-like characters, that she realized that the older she gets the more fearless she wants to become.

"I don't think I realized [in my twenties] that no one else makes you whole. You have to take responsibility for your own happiness. That took me until I was about 31 to know," she explained to the publication.

"It wasn't easy to realize, 'Oh wait, I am purely responsible [for my life]'-no relationship, no children, no nothing is going to make you a happy person. Every day you have to choose to find and cultivate your own happiness."

That being said the Water for Elephants star revealed she has found happiness with her husband Jim Toth, who she shares one child, Tennessee with. Reese also has two children with her ex husband Ryan Phillippe, Ava (age 15) and Deacon (age 11).

"I have to say a very healing part of my life is my wonderful husband, Jim. It's really wonderful being with somebody who supports me, who loves me, who is my No. 1 fan. That is such an incredible experience," the mother-of-three shared. "You have to be ready for those things. I had to be in a place where I felt all those things about myself."

Reese also revealed that her friends are a huge support system that she couldn't be more thankful for. "I am so, so lucky to have girlfriends who, when I was on the floor crying, upset about things that happened in my life, came over, stood me up, put me in the shower, put my clothes on, took my kids to school, brought me dinner. You know? I love my girlfriends, and I protect those relationships fiercely," the This Means War actress said.
