Anne Hathaway had swine flu, with her recuperation including binge watching Toddlers In Tiaras, the star revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. Meanwhile, in a new interview with The New York Times Magazine, she had some salient Oscar-hosting advice for Neil Patrick Harris. Hathaway - who is starring in the just released Song One, which she also produced with her husband Adam Schulman - also explained that she hosted her parents for "twelve days of Christmas" and talked about it being 'fluid control', rather than a power struggle.

Speaking with The New York Times Magazine, Hathaway had some simple advice for new host Neil Patrick Harris, saying simply "Do the opposite of what I did, and you'll be fine."

She added, "He'll be great. He's a great host."

In her chat with Jimmy Kimmel though, Hathaway revealed that she had swine flu, and what helped her recuperate was a bout of reality TV.

"I had swine flu," the Song One star and producer explained to Kimmel. "I was on heavy meds for swine flu, and my husband was out running errands. I was just on my computer and I got really into this show. And I binge watched it for like eight hours.

"And it was Toddlers in Tiaras," she laughed.

Hathaway went on, explaining, "So he comes home. And I guess I was fevered or something, and I said 'Honey, I've found the most incredible show, you've got to watch it, it's so funny.' I pressed play, and not one minute later he was like 'This is disgusting!' And I was like 'No no, it's funny!' and he goes, 'It's child abuse'. And I'm like, 'No no... awwww,'" as she realized that, yes, Toddlers In Tiaras is the worst thing ever created by man.

Watch Hathaway explain herself below:

Spending time with her parents over the holidays was also a bit tricky, the Interstellar star explained. "The best part of the holiday was that we invented the most disgusting drink known to man," she said, before she almost retching.

The retching, as it turns out, was due to the drink: 'Chardanog'.

After a couple of pauses - "it really does effect me" she explained - Hathaway pointed out that Chardanog exists only "in theory", however but its ingredients are simply "chardonnay and creamy, creamy eggnog."
