Zendaya Coleman might have grown up, but it doesn't seem like she's ready to leave the nest yet. The 18-year-old Disney Channel star might have finished working on her first series for the network, Shake It Up, but she is about to embark on a whole new project for the station. While other Disney darlings have tried to shed their good girl images by acting out — see Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan — it seems Zendaya is keeping things tasteful as to not alienate her younger fan base.

Her maturity and wisdom beyond her years is pretty refreshing in an age where girls want to grow up too fast. Instead of moving on from the channel, the star has instead decided to work with them on a more grown up project, but still friendly enough to be on the Disney Channel.

According to E! News, the show is called K.C. Undercover, and Zendaya will also serve as co-producer on the series. The star spoke out to Teen Vogue, where she's the February cover star, to talk about the new project.

"It was going to be called Super Awesome Katy, but I changed it," the star revealed to the magazine, adding, "I don't look like a Katy, and I wanted something a little more mature. It wasn't really right for the demographic that I'm trying to reach now."

The reason that she decided to stay with the house of Mickey Mouse is that she felt that the girls who had grown up with her still watch Disney.

"Well, the majority of my fan base are young girls and I don't want to leave that world forever," Coleman explained. "But I also want to reach the preteens, the teenagers. A lot of college students watch the Disney Channel in their dorms, actually."

We aren't embarrassed to reveal that we were one of those college students.
