Are you ready for Girls season four? Ahead of the iconic HBO show's premiere this Sunday January 11, when we last left Hannah Horvath (Lena Dunham) at the end of Girls season three, she was planning on moving to Iowa, and leaving her boyfriend Adam (Adam Driver) and closest friends Marnie (Allison Williams), Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) and Jessa (Jemima Kirke) behind in New York. Will Hannah actually make the move? Will she break up with Adam for good? Or try to make it last long distance? What of Elijah (Andrew Rannells)?

As we previously mentioned, there's drama aplenty and, unsurprisingly, a lot of stuff doesn't seem to be going right for our brave foursome... and we're even given a Woody Allen quote to mull on in the opening episode.

As star Lena Dunham told Yahoo! Screen, "The girls are finally starting to make adult decisions, but they're realizing that even when you make the right choice, you still get, like, terrible results. That was the thesis of this season: What if you make all the right choices and you're still not happy?"

Marnie, Dunham says, "has finally achieved her dream of being in a relationship with someone who respects her musically and sees her creative side and doesn't just think of her as an all-American girl," while Hannah "has owned her status as a writer by going to graduate school, but now the question is, is that really her identity? Can she really hack it?"

Shoshanna, meanwhile "is struggling with the most relatable question of all. She's graduated into this postrecession job market and found there's really no place for her."

At the end of last season, we found out that Hannah had been invited to a prestigious Iowa Writers Workshop... only it's (obviously) in Iowa, and with Adam's burgeoning acting career taking off on Broadway, there was no way he could leave New York with her. The two appeared to split for the second time; will they reconcile before Hannah leaves for Iowa? And how will Hannah cope with Iowa once she's there?

Meanwhile, Jessa finished season three assisting her mentor Beadie's suicide... but with a twist at the end when Beadie panicked after swallowing a cocktail of drugs. The ever flighty Shoshanna had turned back to Ray, confusing that she wanted to be his girlfriend "and pretend that there was never time when I was not your girlfriend."

Marnie, for her part, was busy hooking up with Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) - who already has a girlfriend, leading to confrontation in the finale between her and Marnie. Will Marnie try to steal Desi from Clementine? As Indiewire pointed out, this season Desi "cranks up the 'douche' dial just a little bit more."

Ahead of the premiere, we can reveal that yes, much to the chagrin of Jessa, Hannah eventually makes it Iowa... but it's not quite what she expects!

HBO's Girls season four premiere airs this Sunday Jan. 11 at 9 p.m. Check out the trailer for the season four premiere of Girls here:
