HBO 'Girls' Season Four, Episode 3 'Female Author' Preview, SPOILERS & Plot Details: How's Hannah Going In Iowa?

Enjoying Girls season four? Get ready to go deep this week, because third episode "Female Author" is heavy... but still promises some laughs The iconic HBO show's last episode found Hannah Horvath (Lena Dunham) partying in Iowa with new roomie Elijah (Andrew Rannells), leaving her boyfriend Adam (Adam Driver) and closest friends Marnie (Allison Williams), Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) and Jessa (Jemima Kirke) behind in New York. In episode three, we dig further into Hannah's new life in Iowa, but also hang out with Marnie and Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Shosh, Ray, Adam and Jessa back in NYC.

As pointed out in our recap of last week's episode, there's been drama aplenty already and, unsurprisingly, a lot of stuff doesn't seem to be going right for our brave foursome... especially when it came to mud fights.

Hannah has been dealing with moving to Iowa and leaving Adam in New York, while Marnie copes with the stress of being the 'other woman' while struggling with her musical partnership with Desi... even while their sexual one was going gangbusters.

Last week Elijah moved into Hannah's huge Iowa house and helped her 'lose herself' at an epic rage where she told a young undergrad that she needed to chill out and have fun while trying to have a long distance relationship. As HitFix's Alan Sepinwall pointed out, it mainyl dealt with Hannah, and was "stronger as a result of the tighter focus."

In "Female Author" Hannah hangs out with her new classmates in Iowa, tackles her writing demons and delivers some honest appraisals of her situation... and we also finally revisit all the othe rmain charatcers.

Marnie and Desi have an important musical meeting that leads to some tension, Shoshanna goes to a job interview, and Adam and Jessa (unsurprisingly) get into trouble.

The best part of the episode though? It definitely involves a throwaway Adam line...
