Paramount Pictures, Skydance Productions, Bad Robot, and IMAX Corporation released a joint press release to the media this week, revealing that Mission: Impossible 5 would be digitally remastered to be shown in IMAX theaters when its release date hits. This means that the footage wasn't shot on IMAX cameras, but the remastering will definitely be pretty cool. Plus, if this goes well, it could be reason enough to film the next chapter with the special cameras!

"IMAX is so important in giving the audience the best experience of the film we have made," Tom Cruise said. "I am very happy to have this partnership on the next Mission."

According to Slash Film, IMAX's Greg Foster added his own excitement regarding the news, saying, "This film was literally made for IMAX and summer moviegoing."

Along with Cruise, the new movie stars Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson, and Sean Harris.

"Audiences the world over proved with the last Mission that the IMAX experience is not to be missed and so we are all thrilled to again partner with Rich [Gelfond], Greg and everyone at IMAX to bring this next exciting installment to their screens this summer," added Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore.
