Before 41st Annual Saturn Awards takes place in June 2015, the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films has announced its nominations. Based on Guillermo Del Toro's vampire novels, published by Dark Horse Comics, FX'The Strain, including cast members David Bradley and Richard Sammel have taken the lead in their own categories.

The first season followed Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and Nora Martinez (Mia Maestro) as they discovered a deadly vampire plague spreading across New York City. As they search for a cure, an old and retired vampire hunter, Abraham Setrakian, (David Bradley) and a rat exterminator, Vasiliy Fet (Kevin Durand) join the crusade to defeat the ancient evil. They must all work together to save the world from The Master and his minions, including Thomas Eichorst (Richard Sammel).

As we previously mentioned, the Saturn Awards have released their full list of nominees. The Game of Thrones actor and the Inglorious Basterds actor, who play life-long enemies on the show, have both been nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series. The series itself has garnered a animation for Best Syndicated/Cable Television Series.

You can hear Bradley's voice as he narrates the footage in the second season trailer. Setrakian states, "The battle has begun. Evil is spreading., changing the human race....literally...turning us into monsters. We must fight, all of us."

Check out the teaser trailer for season 2 here:

We also mentioned here, El Infierno actor Joaquín Cosío has joined the cast playing the former masked Mexican wrestler, The Silver Angel. Expect a cast change as Max Charles replaces Ben Hyland as Zach Goodweather. When we last saw Eph's son on in the first season finale, Zach was at the start of a downward spiral after witnessing his mother being turned into a vampire.

We have 5 reasons why you should get the first season of The Strain on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Season 2 ofThe Strain is expected to return this summer 2015.
