FX's 'The Americans' Season 3 Recap: 'Walter Taffet': Are Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys In Trouble With Martha?

Season 3 of The Americans continues with an all-new episode on FX. With the threat of their covers being blown by someone unsuspecting, will undercover spies Elizabeth (Keri Russell) and Philip (Matthew Rhys) Jennings discover what 'Walter Taffet' actually wants from them?

After listening to the radio news, Philip steps into Paige's room and talks to her about his alleged "civil rights" protests. Paige recounts everything that Elizabeth told her, from their previous activism days. Covering up for her lies, Philip doesn't know what to say to Elizabeth as he searches for aspirin. 

Elizabeth says she wasn't lying to him; she was moving forward with the Center's plans. Gabriel is sending them Rueben, a wanted fugitive in South Africa. At FBI headquarters, Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich) talks a bit about Nina (Annet Mahendru), but doesn't want say too much. 

At home, Philip arrives with pizza, but only Stan wants to eat with him. The two discuss about raising kids, how he feels being on opposite sides. While Elizabeth has her meeting, Stan makes a call to find out about Nina but hangs up. Stan and his partner discover a bug in their director's pen., which causes Martha (Alison Wright) to immediately panic. The FBI agents continue to play along for the recording device, while Martha has a nervous breakdown in the bathroom.

While FBI headquarters is under surveillance by sweepers, Philip and Elizabeth meet with Lisa on a date. As Jack, Philip tries to make a good impression for Michelle (Elizabeth)'s friend. Martha returns home and gets the handgun out of a drawer. While arguing over Paige's choices, Philip decides to leave home and visit Martha. 

As Stan's wife reveals she wants a divorce, Philip (Clarke) notices Martha is nervous wreck. Stan then reveals to his son about his undercover work and admits being scared. Martha visits Clarke's apartment and asks if they will ever will together like a normal married couple. Philip tries to comfort her but she rejects him.

After Philip returns home, Elizabeth admits she should was wrong not to tell him. Philip then admits to Elizabeth that he has an older son. They become more intimate as Philip tells her more about his son.

During breakfast, after the kids go to school, Philip tells Elizabeth something is up with Martha. He is not really up for another kid. Martha goes back to work trying to pretend not to be scared. During their stakeout, Philip spots a mysterious car and fights the driver. Elizabeth brings in the getaway car to kidnap their targets.
