WATCH: Michael Fassbender In 'Slow West' 2-15 Movie Trailer [VIDEO] 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Actor Kodi Smit-McPhee Also Stars In Western Film

Newcomer Kodi Smit-McPhee was recently cast in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse, but in 2015 we'll get to see how he and costar Michael Fassbender work together in the Western-inspired new film from director Jon Maclean, Slow West. This week, we got a great taste for the film, which has a May 15 release date, thanks to a brand new trailer from the independent film studios Film4, A24 and See-Saw. Premiering on iTunes this week, will Slow West become a breakout hit this year? It certainly has the talent, which also includes Ben Mendelsohn, Caren Pisorious and Rory McCann. According to Coming Soon, this new film won the World Cinema Dramatic Grand Jury Prize at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, which makes us pretty excited for its release!

Though it definitely looks like a Western, this movie has reviewers thinking it's so much more than that. You can expect the usual violence, but it works more like a thriller more than anything. According to Slash Film, there's even a fairy tale feel throughout this 2015 film.

At the end of the nineteenth century, 16-year-old Jay Cavendish (Kodi Smit-McPhee) journeys across the American frontier in search of the woman he loves. He is joined by Silas (Michael Fassbender), a mysterious traveler, and hotly pursued by an outlaw along the way.
