'Looking' Season 3 Axed: Will Russell Tovey, Jonathan Groff's Patrick & Kevin Get Finale Special? [WATCH]

Just after the season 2 finale, HBO has decided to cancel Season 3 for Looking. But fans shouldn't fret because there will a finale special surrounding the open-ending between Patrick (Jonathan Groff), Kevin (Russell Tovey), Dom (Murray Bartlett)'s business, and Agustín (Frankie J. Alvarez)'s newfound relationship.

As we previously mentioned, the series created by Michael Lannan revolves around the lives of three best friends in San Francisco. In their own way, each one explores how the single life treats a new generation of gay men. The trio struggles to find meaning behind their everyday relationships, heartaches, and hidden secrets.

In our season finale recap, Agustín (Alvarez) and Eddie (Daniel Franzese) officially became a couple, Dom broke up with Doris (Lauren Weedman). Knowing she was really in love, Dom wanted Doris to focus all her attention to Malik (Bashir Salahuddin). Just as they settled into their new apartment, Patrick discovered Kevin was still fooling around at massage parlors and using his Grindr app.

The closing minutes showed us a very happy Agustín and a confident Dom gazing at his business. But Patrick wanted a new look as he went to Richie (Raúl Castillo) to shave off his head. Did Patrick breakup with Kevin? Or is he thinking of getting back at Kevin by cheating on him with Richie?

According to TV Line, HBO released the statement, "After two years of following Patrick and his tight-knit group of friends as they explored San Francisco in search of love and lasting relationships, HBO will present the final chapter of their journey as a special. We look forward to sharing this adventure with the shows loyal fans."

In response, Lannan went to his social media account to tweet, "Yes it's true, we'll be doing a movie instead of a third season. Thanks for all the love and support! Final chapter yet to come..."
