Based on the crime novels by the late author Elmore Leonard, there is only 1 episode left of the final Season 6 of Justified. In the final showdown, will Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) "have to kill" Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) and Avery Markham (Sam Elliott) to save Ava Crowder (Joelle Carter)?

In our previous recap, when Katherine discovered Wynn Duffy (Jere Burns) was responsible for Grady's death, she sought revenge and aimed her gun at his head. Honoring his code, Mikey got in the line of fire as Katherine emptied her clip. After the brutal fight left Katherine dead, Wynn held his loyal bodyguard in his arms as he passed away. After dealing with Boon (Jonathan Tucker) and Avery Markham, Raylan handed in his badge and went rogue to chase after Ava.

In our recent recap, Boyd murdered an innocent man, (guest star Shea Whigham), who drove him to the mountaintop. During his intense shootout with Raylan, Boyd then filled Constable Bob (Patton Oswalt) with lead, distracting his former best friend. With Bob's status unknown, Boyd had an explosive confrontation with Zachariah. Ava (Joelle Carter) was finally captured by Avery's corrupt police officers and held hostage.

In an interview with Yahoo TV, showrunner Graham Yost reveals Raylan cannot stop Boyd unless he becomes what he despises most, "Whether or not the audience will turn on Boyd is a question. I think that this has just been part of the reality of Boyd for a long, long time. You know, there is that circular intent for the season, to bring things back to the way Boyd and Ava and Raylan to a degree originally were and restate that question. Heading into the final episode, there is a real question whether or not Raylan will kill Boyd, and he certainly has good reason to."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sam Elliott describes Avery Makham's mindset, "He's aggressive in that he's in pursuit, but he is where he is now. He doesn't get out of that barn again, which is perfect, because he's in there surrounded by weed."

The Big Lebowski actor adds, "He'll see it until he can't see it anymore."
