Though we're sure you're a little oversaturated with different versions of the iconic detective Sherlock Holmes (BBC's Sherlock, CBS's Elementary, and Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes film franchise), we think that the newest incarnation of the literary character could be the best. Hitting theaters on July 17, 2015, Mr. Holmes takes place at the end of the detective's life, with Sir Ian McKellan playing a more "true to life" version of the character, based on the novel A Slight Trick of the Mind by Mitch Cullin. Check out a new trailer for this movie below and find out if you like the old Sherlock compared to the other versions!

Here is the official synopsis of this new film (via Slash Film):

MR. HOLMES is a new twist on the world's most famous detective. 1947, an aging Sherlock Holmes returns from a journey to Japan, where, in search of a rare plant with powerful restorative qualities, he has witnessed the devastation of nuclear warfare. Now, in his remote seaside farmhouse, Holmes faces the end of his days tending to his bees, with only the company of his housekeeper and her young son, Roger. Grappling with the diminishing powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely upon the boy as he revisits the circumstances of the unsolved case that forced him into retirement, and searches for answers to the mysteries of life and love - before it's too late.
