The Batman prequel, Gotham, continues on Fox with all-new episode. In Episode  20, Under the Knife, are Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), and Oswald Copplepot (Robin Lord Taylor) ready to go up against the serial killer, The Ogre (Milo Ventimiglia)?

While Jim continues the Ogre investigation, Barbara has a close encounter with the Ogre. Penguin meets with a hit-man, asking him to take out Sal Maroni and his lieutenants. At first the hit-man doesn't want to accept the job, but after some persuasion, Penguin convinces him to take it.

Jim discovers why the name and face on the last page of the report was scratched out. The previous detective had to protect his daughter when his wife was murdered by the Ogre. The detectives are being watched by the Ogre as they step out the precinct. Nygma (Corey Michael Smith) finds Ms. Kringle making out with her boyfriend. Then he spots bruises on her arm, thinking her boyfriend is responsible.

While Bruce (David Mazouz) is investigating names at the Wayne foundation, he wants to go to the charity ball. Bruce asks Alfred (Sean Pertwee) if killing was necessary in the war. Alfred is surprised to hear that Bruce is taking Selina Kyle to the ball. Even though the ball is out in public, Alfred promises to be close by in case something happens.

After spotting the Ogre's car, Harvey and Jim are almost run over. At the precinct, Jim gets a call from the Ogre himself. The Ogre gives him a warning; if he continues, someone will die. Jim goes to the press talking about the Ogre, saying he won't back down and is coming after him.

Barbara (Erin Richards) finds out Selina (Camren Bicondova) is going to the Wayne Charity Ball too but she doesn't know a thing about heels. At the club, Penguin finds his mother (Carol Kane) having a drink with Sal (David Zayas). Bruce is surprised to see Selina all dressed up, but the shoes hurt for her.

Following a lead, Jim and Bullock save a man who was hanging from a rope. Jim finds the Ogre's faces have been scratched out from all the pictures. Bullock enters one of the rooms and finds a dead woman's body.

At the ball, everyone is looking at Selina and Bruce as they dance. Bullock and Jim interrogate the Ogre's father, but he won't give him up. While Bruce and Selina argue about crossing the line about killing, they spot their suspect.

Nygma meets with Kringle's boyfriend, who makes no apologies about hitting her. At the ball, the Ogre flirts with Barbara as the detectives discover his origin story. Jim realizes the Ogre had his face operated on, which is why all his pictures are scratched out.

Sal reveals to Penguin's mother that his son a psychopath and grabs her neck, causing her to faint. The Ogre continues to seduce Barbara as they dance at the ball. Bruce meets his suspect while Selina copies his key.

Selina gets a bad vibe from the Ogre when she spots him. Nygma meets with Kringle's boyfriend, gets beaten up before he stabs him again and again. The "Riddle Man" is freaking out when he sees the bloody knife in his hand.

Penguin's mother says she will love him no matter, but she knows he is more than a nightclub owner. Penguin promises Sal is a dead man. With his latest info and meeting with Selina, Jim realizes the Ogre is going after Barbara as his next target.

The episode ends with Barbara discovering the Ogre's sex dungeon.
