Fox's 'Gotham' Spoilers: Twitter Reacts To Ben McKenzie, Cory Michael Smith's Riddler Shocker! [WATCH]

A major turning point occurred for one of the characters in the Batman prequel, Gotham, on Fox. Twitter had lots to say about Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie)'s friend and ally, Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) as he became his alter-ego, The Riddler, in a shocking twist.

In our previous recap, Gordon realized he was being setup to take the fall by Commissioner Loeb. There is a serial killer stalking woman in the streets of Gotham and has been on the loose for at least a decade. Gordon realized that if The Ogre (Milo Ventimiglia) discovers the police coming after him, the killer hunts after the officer's loved ones.

In our recent recap, while Gordon discovered the hideous origin of The Ogre, Edward discovered Kristin Kringle (Chelsea Spack) was being abused by her boyfriend. When Edward confronted Dougherty about her bruises, he made no apologies about what he was doing to her. When Edward and Dougherty confronted each other again, Nygma had to defend himself and stabbed Kringle's boyfriend again and again.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Smith reveals, "It'll be quite tragic seeing someone who is well-intentioned fall into this villainous role. It's been fun for me because people will suddenly see a very different man. Circumstances are such that he can't just go through life trying to be the good guy, and trying to put his best foot forward and try to give information and flirt with the girl. He just can't do that anymore, and all of a sudden, he becomes far more complex and far more dynamic. Suddenly, there are secrets he has to deal with, and his life gets more complicated. I've gotten so excited as I've been reading the scripts."
