'Person Of Interest' Season 4: Ep 21: 'Asylum' Recap: Will Jim Caviezel's Reese Save Elias?

2 episodes remain for Season 4 of Person of Interest on CBS. In Episode 21, Asylum, as mob war between Elias (Enrico Colantoni) and Dominic (Winston Duke) heats up, are Finch (Michael Emerson) and Reese (Jim Caviezel) being led to a trap by Control (Camryn Manheim)?

The brakes aren't working for a driver as she crashes her car and is kidnapped by Control, Her body is replaced in the crash as her car is blown up afterwards. Reese is still reeling from his shot and thanks Fusco (Kevin Chapman) for saving him. As they investigate four dead Brotherhood members, Root breaks her cast and takes out a chip. 

Reese gets a call from The Machine, which means Elias and Dominic are their POIS. As Brotherhood prepares for battle, Dominic is having problems with his right-hand man, Link (Jamie Hector). Finch gets a call from Shaw's phone. When Root picks up, Shaw is begging for help but the call cuts off.

Control interrogates the kidnapped woman, Shelly, and shoots a man in front of her. Control wants to know everything about Samaritan. Convinced Shaw is alive, Root gets her guns ready but Finch knows it's a trap. Root threatens to commit suicide until the Machine helps her find Shaw. The Machine gives in and sends her Shaw's location. 

While Finch and Root plan to enter a hospital, Reese pays a visit to Elias. In the vault, Elias doesn't want saving from Reese. During their standoff, the Brotherhood arrives with guns blazing. Unfortunately, Dominic shows up and takes Elias' gun.  

Root then finds an underground tunnel, where Finch hacks his way into the hospital. With Samaritan close to finding the Machine, Root intends to break-in the hospital. Dominic wants intel from Reese, Elias, and Fusco, who are all captured. 

Finch dresses up like a homeless bum as Root rolls him in. Walking through the hallways, Finch meets Lennie and tells him his spaceman was stolen. Lennie's fight causes a distraction for Harold to hack into the institute. 

Root discovers Greer (John Nolan) in Samaritan's base of operations. Control continues to interrogate Shelly, who really is a double agent. Dominic wants to know about Harold and how he broke into the system's cameras. Link brings in the hammer and starts with his fingers.

Dominic then goes after Reese, who gets stabbed by Link. Fusco is dumped into a tank of water. Root is then cornered by Samaritan's agents, and finds Shaw's too. Root watches Shaw being escorted way. Root fights off Martine but gets taken down.

Reese knows Elias has been planning his last stand. Dominic wants to know who is the rat in his crew. Greer realizes Root is the direct line to the Machine. After bringing in Finch, Martine promises to kill him first. Root then snaps Martine (Cara Buono)'s neck, killing her, and surrenders.  

Shelly tells Control that the correction is about to begin. We find out Control ordered the death of Nathan Ingram. Samaritan is planning an attack, which will happen on May 6th. Control has to look away and she will be saved.

Dominic gets a call and sic overs Link's name was in the account. After shooting Link dead, Elias laughs because he lied and planted a message. Dominic killed his own right-hand man, who wasn't a rat and now his own team won't trust him.

A countdown has started. The Machine must give up its location or their human agents will die. Root begs the Machine to keep fighting.

The Machine shits down the power and sends a message to Harold, "You are not interchangeable."

After The Machine gives up its location, Greer lets Finch and Root go.

Shaw is in the car as she is being driven away. Shelly believes a better world is coming. Control tells her too bad she won't see it and shoots her dead.

While Reese, Elias, and Fusco are still captive, Root and Finch have to find the Machine first before it's all too late. Samartian is calling in all its agents to attack the Machine.
