Joss Whedon Quits Twitter - 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Director Explains Departure, Calls Rumors "Horsesh*t"

Earlier in the week, Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon quit Twitter, thus ending his tenure as a talkative social media user that often directly communicated with fans of his movies and other projects. Many pointed the account termination on "militant feminists" that berated the filmmaker with negative tweets and posts due to his take on female superheroes in his movies, but now Whedon has officially responded to these rumors and given us a real reason for quitting Twitter.

Since leaving Twitter, many have come to Whedon's defense, asking people to be kinder on Social Media, assuming he "quit" because of negative tweets and the like. Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn even wrote out a heartfelt plea with his fans, which fall under the same demographic as Whedon's followers, on Facebook to ask for kind conversations instead of hurtful comments. But now Whedon has finally addressed this news, claiming the rumors of him being bullied were not true. While speaking with BuzzFeed this week, the director cleared the air regarding deleting his Twitter account.

"That is horsesh*t," Whedon explained, according to Slash Film. "Believe me, I have been attacked by militant feminists since I got on Twitter. That's something I'm used to. Every breed of feminism is attacking every other breed, and every subsection of liberalism is always busy attacking another subsection of liberalism, because god forbid they should all band together and actually fight for the cause."
