Who knew actor Morgan Freeman was such a pothead? The Shawshank Redemption actor was recently the topic of discussion during an interview with The Daily Beast about his newest film 5 Flights Up. The conversation turned to the legalization of marijuana. To which Freeman noted, "How do I take it? However it comes!"

Apparently whether it be through smoking it, drinking it, snorting it, etc., Freeman is down for the herb. He further commented that the marijuana movement is a "really long time coming, and it's getting legs––longer legs."

The actor admitted to having fibromyalgia in his arm, and uses pot as a pain reliever. In fact, he claims that it's the only thing that offers relief.

"They're talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they've discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life. That right there, to me, says, 'Legalize it across the board!'"

The 77-year-old notes that the negative effects of smoking pot can be left with a simple look of what happened at Woodstock. "Look at Woodstock 1969," he said.

"They said, 'We're not going to bother them or say anything about smoking marijuana,' and not one problem or fight. Then look at what happened in '99."

As mentioned, Freeman's Daily Beast interview was for the new film 5 Flights Up. In the movie, he stars alongside actress Diane Keaton as a couple who looks to rid themselves of their Brooklyn apartment and start fresh.

Take a look at the trailer here:

While still illegal in most areas, marijuana has become either legal or decriminalized for personal and medicinal uses in a number of states.
