Though Maze Runner was one of the biggest movies of last year, throwing fans into a big-screen adventure, it was only the beginning of Thomas (Dylan O'Brien)'s tale. After escaping the Glade, we find our favorite characters facing off against more trials set up by WCKD in The Scorch Trials. This is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2014 film, with a release date set for Sept. 18, 2015. Watch the first trailer for this new movie below!

Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ki Hong Lee, Rosa Salazar, Katherine McNamara, Jacob Lofland, Giancarlo Esposito, Aiden Gillen, Lili Taylor, and Barry Pepper also star in this new movie.

From what we can tell from this new trailer, we get some backstory from a new character (Gillen), explaining why WCKD was created. After discovering that the adults in this movie can't be trusted, the crew escapes and has to face the deserted Scorch.

Though they're exploring the vast wastelands, they aren't alone. They run into other survivors and other terrors. What can we expect from this sequel?
