5 Habits to Break to Wake Up Earlier in the Morning: Tips for People Who Stay Up Late

It's been said that people who get up earlier tend to be more productive. Now, whether or not that's true we're not so sure, but just in case, there are a few people out there looking to be safe and trying to get up earlier in the morning. Sadly, they just can't seem to do so. Well, wouldn't you know, there may just be some habits you're doing that are causing you NOT to get up early. But don't worry, folks, we've got your back to help you break those habits.

So, for all you non-morning people out there, let's take a look at things you're doing to yourselves that hinder you from getting up early in the morning.

5. Setting Your Alarm Too Late
Perhaps part of the reason you can't seem to get up in the morning is merely because you're not giving yourself enough time to wake up. Therefore, try setting the alarm for a little earlier, say 15 minutes, per a report from The Huffington Post, and see what happens!

4. You Watch TV Before Bed
As amazing as television is – you know, because reading is stupid ... kidding – try turning it off some time before you go to bed. Trust us, we know how much you say you need to watch the news at 11 p.m., but the truth is you're busy watching something mindless.

Oh, and that goes for your phone too. Separate yourself from it well before bed. Which, we know, sounds terrible.

3. Last Minute Decisions
Time management is uber important, and if you don't find yourself prepping for the day beforehand, you might not have enough time to do all the things you need to before it gets started. Therefore, try getting everything ready for the day the night before. For example, maybe during the "news" you're watching.

2. You're Not Eating Well Enough
Make sure you're eating protein in the morning, readers. Whether it be through granola, yogurt or fruit, pack your morning meals with protein and see what happens in the following days.

1. You Stay Up Too Late
This might be obvious, but if you're staying up way too late, you probably won't be getting up at a decent hour. Therefore, be an adult – go to bed at a reasonable time, ya slackers!
