Just because the series finale of Sons of Anarchy aired on FX, that doesn't mean BOOM! Studios is done with SAMCRO. Based on the popular crime drama, Jax Teller (memorably played by Charlie Hunnam) is up against double-crosses and crooked deals in Sons of Anarchy #21, by writer Ryan Ferrier and artist Matías Bergara

As we previously mentioned, Bobby Munson (Mark Boone Junior)'s estranged nephew arrived in Charming and started out as a promising Prospect. Because he is Bobby's blood, everyone  expected Dillon would eventually fit in with the motorcycle club. Unfortunately, Dillion got involved with the Mayans and sent one of them to the hospital. Though Juice (Theo Rossi) wanted to put a bullet in Dillion's head, Jax's sense of mercy, letting Dillon live, would be his own undoing.

In our MStars interview, Ferrier teased what's in store for Jax and the rest of SAMCRO, "Issue #21 really ramps up the tension, and I can't wait for people to read it! It gets much more personal, much more sinister, and we introduce another layer of threat that affects everyone involved. Everyone is going to get into it even more deeper, and so far we've only just lit the end of the fuse on the powder keg. There will be death, destruction, and vengeance...but I can't say with whom."

Ferrier continues the narrative straight after Dillon vandalized the clubhouse. In order to keep Jax distracted, Dillon frames the Mayans for the destruction. He finds himself at odds between trying to keep the peace and seeking retribution. The dialogue really works when Jax surrounds himself with the rest of the club members, arguing about how they should proceed.

Bergara hilariously illustrates Dillon and his gang of morons with their Three Stooges act. The dark humor hits its mark when Dillon meets with the Mayans. Marus Alvarez (Emilio Rivera) is depicted with a straight face as he watches Dillon and his exaggerated physical contortions. But when Dillon is alone, Bergara presents him as a scary antagonist who shouldn't be underestimated.

RATING: MUST BUY

Ryan Ferrier's tough guy dialogue and Matías Bergara's s vivid artwork make Sons of Anarchy #21 a worthwhile read. If you miss watching the TV show, this will certainly fill in the void.
