Before its the official November premiere, CBS has been gaining momentum with its upcoming DC Comics superhero drama, Supergirl. The hype machine is already gaining steam as Melissa Benoist, Calista Flockhart and Mehcad Brooks have earned a spot in 2015 Critics' Choice TV Awards' "Top New Series."

As we previously mentioned, the CBS superhero drama will follow the comic book adventures of Kara Zor-El (Benoist). Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped before its destruction. While living on Earth, Kara has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at the tender age of 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero she was always meant to be.

According to Deadline, the Broadcast Television Journalists Association has nominated eight honorees for its Most Exciting New Series category. Supergirl joins American Crime Story (FX), Aquarius (NBC), Blindspot (NBC), Minority Report (Fox), The Muppets (ABC), Scream Queens (Fox) and UnREAL (Lifetime).

Some of our favorite FX programs, Sons of Anarchy, Justified, and The Americans have earned nominations for the Critics' Choice Television Awards. Charlie Hunnam has been nominated for Best Actor In A Drama Series. Walton Goggins earned a nod for Guest Performing Actor In A Drama Series and Best Supporting Actor In A Drama Series. Crossing our fingers that Justified will win an award for its highly satisfying final season.

Check out our 5 thoughts on the Supergirl trailer here:

As we previously mentioned, Benoist joins Grant Gustin (The Flash) as their costumed counterparts alongside their executive producer, Greg Berlanti, as they share the cover on the latest issue of Variety magazine. Perhaps this will be the only time fans will see The Flash/Supergirl crossover.

The fifth annual Critics' Choice Television Awards will air live May 31 on A&E.

Supergirl will premiere in November on Mondays at 8pm.
