Last week the United States Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriages across the nation, marking a tremendous milestone for the gay community of the country. Considering this huge step, should popular entertainment mediums jump on this acceptance bandwagon? It doesn't seem like such a bad idea, and for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the studio's boss, Kevin Feige, there is no reason why a gay superhero from the popular comic book company shouldn't be in a feature film soon! Considering the recent Supreme Court ruling from late last week, Slash Film asked Feige a related question about getting a gay character into the widely popular Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. His answer was pretty incredible, too!

"The answer is: there is no reason why that can't happen any time soon. You know, we pull the characters from the comics, for the most part, and they've been forging new ground for decades in the comics," the MCU studio head said when asked when we'd see a LGBT character in a Marvel movie. "They've been very progressive in the comics. And even more recently in a very important and progressive way. And we keep track of all of those things and are inspired by all of those things, so I'd love it to find an organic, meaningful and natural way for that to happen at some point in the not so distant future."

Slash Film also points out that a recent Marvel comic book storyline featured Bobby Drake, a.k.a. the X-Men's Ice Man, as a homosexual. Also, the superhero Northstar came out as gay in 1992, with a bigger moment in 2012 featuring the character's same-sex wedding on a comic book cover. In other words, there are plenty of options out there for the film studio to incorporate.
