Christopher Miller and Phil Lord blew audiences away recently with The Lego Movie, but now fans of the directors will get to see how the filmmaking pair takes on a "Galaxy far, far away!" According to an official announcement from Disney and Lucasfilm, Miller and Lord have been hired to direct the upcoming Star Wars Anthology standalone spin-off movie project based on the early days of Han Solo's smuggling career. The movie itself is pretty amazing, but with these two directors we know we'll be in for a wild ride. Read more on this news below!

According to Slash Film, Miller and Lord aren't replacing director Josh Trank who left another spin-off project earlier this year for personal reasons, though many people feel he was fired. This is a separate film. You can read our previous coverage of Trank's departure right here!

These directors have a number of projects in the works, according to UPROXX, but are very excited to join the Star Wars universe.

"This is the first film we've worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with," the filmmaking team said in an official statement, which was published to StarWars.com. "We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us. This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you're late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you've loved since before you can remember having dreams at all."

We recently reported on some casting rumors surrounding Kingsman: The Secret Service actor Taron Egerton, speculating that he could be the new Han Solo. Read more on this news here!
