Stephen Amell of CW's 'Arrow' Says Casey Jones' 'TMNT 2' Origin Differs from Comic Books

Filming on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is in full-swing this summer, with all eyes on the CW's Arrow actor Stephen Amell who was cast as vigilante crime fighter Casey Jones in the Michael Bay production. Fans of the TMNT comic books, TV shows and movies can't wait to see how Amell takes on the favored role, but how different will this Jones be from other incarnations? Ever since Amell was cast in the important role, fans have been clamoring to find out more on his take on the character. After the actor posted a photo of Jones' mask on his Twitter account earlier this year, speculation around just how dark the character would go started to spread. Jones has clearly had issues in the past, but a new interview with Amell proves that the latest version of the hockey mask-wearing crime fighter could be the most serious take on the comic book character.

"It's certainly not your father's or your younger self's Casey Jones, but that's because we meet him at a very different time in his development," the acclaimed actor told IGN in a recent interview, according to Slash Film. "He is not the Casey Jones that a lot of comic fans have come to know and love. He is a guy with a job that lives in New York and loves hockey. When things go awry, [and] when he goes through the normal methods of what someone would do when they're [a] law-abiding citizen and he's met with laughter and scorn... he decides to take things into his own hands."

Clearly we're in for a wild ride when Amell debuts on the big screen as Casey Jones next year.
