Director Alejandro González Iñárritu's follow up movie project to the Oscar-winning film Birdman has all the right ingredients for even more critical acclaim. The Revenant stars Hollywood superstar actor Leonardo DiCaprio as a pioneer era fur trader that has to survive the perilous winter in this period piece thriller. Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter also star in this new movie, which is sure to have you buzzing, especially after watching the first thrilling trailer. DiCaprio portrays a fur trader that is seriously injured after a bear attack. His business partner, played by Hardy, leaves him to die after robbing the injured traveler, but he's not ready to give up. The adventure starts there and does not stop until he gets his revenge.

It's refreshing to see Hardy in another villainous role and DiCaprio in a film set in the wild wilderness like this. Sure, he can handle period pieces, but we haven't really seen him out in the elements in a thriller since The Beach, which doesn't seem as intense as this new movie.

Will this film garner DiCaprio a long awaited Academy Award? We'll have to wait and see!
