Aaron Sorkin's critically acclaimed political drama, The Newsroom, came to an end on HBO. Though the series finale has aired, the HBO drama continues to gain critical praises as ACN news anchorman Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels) has been nominated for the 2015 Emmy Awards.

As we previously mentioned, Sloan Sabbith (Olivia Munn) discovered the cable company was in the midst of a hostile takeover. Due to budget cuts, Reese Lansing (Chris Messina) might have had to hand out pink slips if ratings continued to take a nosedive. Neal Sampat (Dev Patel) found himself in trouble after receiving classified government files from an anonymous whistleblower.

As the season progressed, Neal became a wanted man on the FBI list after they raided the ACN offices. Charlie Skinner (Sam Waterston) realized millionaire Lucas Pruitt  (B.J. Novak), may have the money to save the company, but his ideas could also compromise his integrity. In his last hours as a free man, Will finally got married to the love of his life, Mackenzie Mchale (Emily Mortimer).

In our finale recap, Jim (John Gallagher Jr.) finally told Maggie (Alison Pill) how he felt about her. The night Will was released from prison, Charlie died fighting for Mac and Sloan, after Lucas wanted them both fired. Saving the day, Leona Lansing (Jane Fonda) convinced Lucas to hire Mac as Charlie's replacement. Though Charlie is missed, Will convinced the ACN news team to return back to work, because that's what their mentor would have wanted.

With so much plot, you would have thought the Emmy's would have nominated something for writing! Anyways, Deadline reports, Daniels is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series, competing against Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), Kevin Spacey (House Of Cards), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), and Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan).

Seriously, what's with the Emmys this year? Jane Fonda should have be nominated for Guest Actress again!

Check out why this critic is a mess after watching the series finale of The Newsroom:

Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) will host the Emmy Awards on September 20, 2015.
