Idris Elba just made history as the first man to have a solo cover on Maxim. The infamous magazine is making a push to be more female-friendly, and this move certainly won't hurt, if the Twitter reactions are any indicator.

Kate Lanphear took over as editor-in-chief of Maxim and aimed to change it's image from an objectifying magazine for men with images of scantily clad NSFW women to a more female-friendly, empowering space. Her efforts have included putting "gorgeous, tightly cropped, classy portraits of Taylor Swift, Lily Aldridge, and Candice Swanepoel" in the mag, according to Yahoo.

"We've never in US Maxim history had a man on the cover solo," Lanphear told Racked. "This is the very first time, and there was no one else in the world more badass than Idris."

The cover shows a steely-eye Elba staring into the camera while sitting on a chair. He's wearing a beautiful dark leopard print coat and a salt-and-pepper beard.

Elba is preparing for the premiere of the new Star Trek, where he'll be playing a villain. One role he definitely won't be playing, however, is James Bond. He told Maxim that it's just not going to happen, even with – or perhaps because of – the mass public cry to get him into the role.

"For me, he was really the perfect embodiment of what I think the new Maxim man is. He's multi-dimensional, he's complex, he's sophisticated, but he's down to earth. It was funny when on set, I was like, 'Is there anything this guy can't do?' Lanphear told Racked.

"He's an award-winning actor, he's a DJ, his capsule clothing line for Superdry is about to hit stores. The guy broke the [British] land speed record which hasn't been touched since like 1928. He's sort of a living, breathing superhero."

Here's what Twitter had to say about the cover:
