'Lucha Underground': Alberto El Patron Vs. Johnny Mundo Episode 39 El Rey Network Finale!

From Emmy award-winning Mark Burnett (Survivor), Lucha Underground airs tonight's episode 39, the season finale, on the El Rey Network. The culmination of the two-part Ultima Lucha event, closes with a must-see battle between former WWE stars, Alberto El Patron and Johnny Mundo.

Ever since launching his own network, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For filmmaker Robert Rodriguez has entertained audiences with his programs, such as the upcoming second season of From Dusk Till Dawn. As we previously mentioned, El Rey rides into lucha libre, the no-holds barred world of freestyle wrestling and high-flying aerial maneuvers. In Mexico's most popular sport, the masked villains and heroes confront against each other in thrilling one-on-one matches.

According to the release, tonight concludes the two-week massive season finale. In tonight's Part 2,Johnny Mundo will take on Alberto El Patron, while Pentagon Jr.dukes it out in the ring with Vampiro. After Texano fights Blue Demon Jr., the 7-Way Gift of the Gods Match goes down for the Aztec Gold. The Championship Match is on between Prince Puma and Mil Muertes as they face 1000 deaths.

In an interview with Bleacher Report, Rey Mysterio answers to rumors if he will be joining Lucha Underground if the wrestling program gets a second season, "I'm a big fan of their product and I watch it on occasion. They are doing a wonderful job and I think it's great that they give an opportunity to the future talent of AAA. I sit down and think if we had that type of promotion going on when AAA was filled with Psychosis,Juventud, Parka, Pentagon, Konnan, then lucha libre would have been introduced years ago to the United States. Unfortunately it didn't happen but I think everything has its time to be exposed and now it has happened for Lucha Underground. I think if the time is right and I am interested I don't see why not."

According to Comic Book Resources, LU pays homage to the single take hallway fight sequence in Marvel's Daredevil as multiple assailants attack Vampiro in a dimly confined space.

The season finale of Lucha Underground airs August 5 at 8pm on the El Rey Network.
