Every year there is the very awesome, the very notable, Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival held in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. This weekend, August 7th-9th, Elton John, the Black Keys and Mumford and Sons will be headlining. San Francisco CBS News reports, "Commonly referred to simply as Outside Lands, is the weekend-long musical event at Golden Gate Park that began in 2008. From its start with more than 60 musical artists and groups from around the world, the festival has totally changed the definition of outdoor music events." The festival blends well-established bands and artists to new and fresh voices and sounds. Other important artists that will be featured will be Kendrick Lamar, Sam Smith and D'Angelo.

In addition to the famous and the Grammy winners, are a few local treasures that San Jose Mercury News decided to "get the skinny" on. Some of them include G-Eazy, Fantastic Negrito, Amon Tobin, Giraffage, Toro y Moi, Heartwatch, Devil Makes Three, Devon Baldwin, Claude Vonstroke and The Sam Chase. "'Outside Lands is a celebration of everything that is great about the Bay Area," says Allen Scott, executive vice president of Berkeley's Another Planet Entertainment, which promotes Outside Lands. 'And as we do with the food, wine, beer and art, we highlight local artists, which represent close to 20 percent of our lineup,'" says San Jose Mercury News. Outside Lands is a place to discover new music and have fun in the Bay Area. Although a new trend, it is ever so popular and usually turns into a weekend event seeing as attendees like to see all of the artists on the line-up.

This isn't their first rodeo and the Outside Lands website has the details all laid out so that attendees can plan and enjoy their time. See you in the park!
