Did you ever hear that saying, "Fake it till you make it?" Well, that might be truer than you think when it comes to smiling. Reports suggest that there's science behind faking a smile that believes it does in fact make you a happier person. Moreover, exercise and moving your face muscles (mainly into a smile) can truly transform your body and make you happier in the long run.

So if you're reading this with a frown, well, stop it and smile.

A video from Life Noggin notes that a study at the University of Kansas had volunteers fake smiles, display "neutral expressions," and give out genuine smiles all while dipping their hands in ice water. What they discovered was that the ones who smiled – fake or genuine – had lower heart rates and lower levels of stress.

"Smiling releases endorphins that combat stress-inducing chemicals like adrenaline," Life Noggin claims via The Huffington Post. Therefore, what we're urging all you wannabe happy-folk to do is, merely fake those smiles and see what happens.

The video also notes that exercises can lead to improved mental (and yes, physical) health – whether it be via a little or a lot of exercise.

So, in short, just get moving, folks. Or, "Start working out and flex a smile," as they tell us.

Does this mean you've finally discovered a legit reason to hit the gym? (fingers crossed...)

On the opposite end of the spectrum from exercise, comfort foods can reportedly make us happier because they bring us back to childhood. Specifically, spinach, turkey, and bananas. These types of food help produce serotonin and can actually make you feel happier after eating.

So, who's happy? If you're not... go to the store, eat a banana and then let us know below. But of course, purchase the banana – don't just eat it at the store without paying. That's illegal.
