Top 3 Things You’re Doing That Hold You Back in Life

Life is a scary thing, which is why most of us tend to settle. But that only eases our nerves for a little bit until that desire crops up again. Whether it be a desire to do something spectacular or different, or even a desire to be something else, we oftentimes hold ourselves back in life by the things we do. What kinds of things? Well, unfortunately, a lot...

The Huffington Post recently put together a list of eight daily things we are doing to ourselves that stop us from getting the life that we want. The sad truth is that this is a common trait amongst humans. We let the fear of the unknown get to us and don't even bother trying something new – trying something that we wish could happen. And instead of trying to make it happen we just stay put and wish some more.

So, on this day, let's all agree to stop holding ourselves back. Stop doing the below:

THINKING COMFORT IS ALWAYS GOOD
Comfort is undoubtedly an important thing in life, and there's no doubt that you should do what makes you comfortable... most of the time. Think about all of the noted musicians, actors, writers, comedians, etc. who had no fear about getting up in front of an audience and publishing their first work when they first started. Our guess is the answer is very few. Everyone is nervous in the beginning, and even years down the line. Sometimes you need to feel that discomfort, embrace it and keep going, in order to feel comfort.

In other words, you need to challenge yourself.

BELIEVING PROBLEMS ARE SIGNS YOU SHOULD STOP
Life isn't easy. Obtaining your goals isn't easy. Roadblocks are a common thing; don't let them get you down. Do some research on those "overnight successes" you hear about all the time. Chances are they're anything but overnight.

DON'T LOOK INWARD
Thinking introspectively is a healthy trait for everyone to have. Looking inward and doing some serious self-reflecting is imperative. So if you find yourself constantly on edge, angry, or depressed, perhaps you should start looking inward.

Do yourself a favor and let today be the first day that you don't hold, well, you back any longer. Stop wishing and start doing.

And please ignore the cheesiness of that last line.
