Michael Shannon portrayed General Zod in Man of Steel and he will reprise that role, in a manner of speaking, in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. But in an interview with Vulture, the actor gave some odd details about his part.

In the trailer for the movie, which you can view below, you can see Shannon as Zod's corpse. Some fans have speculated that Lex Luthor uses Zod's corpse to create Doomsday somehow, though that has not been confirmed.

Regardless, read what Shannon had to say about an experience he had while on set.

“I was in my costume, and I couldn’t use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands,” he said. “So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn’t open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder, the director] being like, 'Where’s Shannon? Where the f*ck is he?' and the whole crew was standing around. I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, 'Let me out of here!'”

Luckily, Shannon received help from the “craft-service guy, who doesn’t have the best craft service. He was actually paying attention to what was going on. He came over and he opened the door for me. Otherwise I would have gotten fired.”

As funny as that story is, the interesting takeaway is that Shannon had flippers on his hands. Doomsday has never had flippers in any of his incarnations, but it's always possible that Shannon was never actually going to play Doomsday in the first place.

But is he really just playing Zod's corpse, as we see in the trailer? “Well, I haven’t seen the trailer either, so I don’t know what I am in the trailer,” he said. “I could be a toaster, or a Porsche, I don’t know.”

Another less likely possibility is that Shannon's character is now somehow tied to Jason Momoa's Aquaman.

What do you think Shannon's remarks mean? Do you think he is strictly portraying a dead body, or could he have a different role altogether? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
