Star Citizen is one of the most anticipated video games in recent history, mainly because the project was started in 2012 and is still in the works. This length of development has plenty of backers that helped fund the project through Kickstarter on now on the game's official website, but we've learned this week that disgruntled donators are able to get refunds from the developers over at Cloud Imperium. Though the terms for donating say a refund isn't a possibility, the studio doesn't want any negativity surrounding this epic project. Read more on this below.

"We don't publicize it, but when people reach out to us and talk to us in a rational manner, in most cases we've refunded them," founder Chris Roberts said in a new interview with Polygon this week. "We don't want people to be part of the project if they're not happy."

We know that many backers aren't too happy with this development process thanks to a lengthy forum discussion that details the troubles.

"We don't have to do that. The terms of the agreement mean we don't," Roberts continued. "We're developing [the game], so we can't be in a position where we automatically have to refund people's money. That's how we pay salaries. If we can't spend the money we get we can't make the game. We don't want people to get the impression that it is automatic because it is completely discretionary on our part."

The founder went on to explain that any specific situation that involves a need for money or lack of interest in the title would lead to a refund even though the company is in no legal way expected to provide such a service.
